Research Update: Assessing Oracy with Comparative Judgement

A few months ago we highlighted an exciting research project being led by Voice 21 to explore Comparative Judgement as a method of assessing oracy. The results of the first phase were revealed last week at the Festival of Education. You can find a link to the presentation below.

The importance of oracy education is recognised across the education spectrum - there is even a dedicated all-party Parliamentary Group. Teachers are doing amazing work every day however, there is a recognition that several assessment challenges remain. Unblocking these is essential to give oracy the priority it deserves.

As you will see the results are interesting and encouraging. We look forward to the next stage.
