Understanding Roles and Privileges in RM Compare

The assignment of roles and privileges empowers end users while maintaining trust, confidence and control.
Tenancy, roles and privileges in RM Compare
The recent introduction of Licence Centres brings the concept of tenancy to RM Compare. In simple terms tenancy is like how a building is divided and used by different residents (the 'tenants').
Each tenant gets gets their own isolated space. This means
- Their data is separate
- Their configuration can be unique
- They share the underlying infrastructure
This means that we can offer the benefits of a 'one-to-many' system to customers and users while at the same time providing clearly separated, secure data environments. This is an example of our Privacy by Design approach.
Recently released Connector technology allows tenancies to collaborate and work together by providing controlled data-sharing functionality.
A tenancy structure relies on roles and privileges to function effectively. We are starting to introduce and expland these to provide necessary end user controls.
In the diagram below you can see the current roles and privileges available in RM Compare. Our intention is to update these are we progress. The Help Centre provides an overview of the current system.

Account types, roles and privileges
As a new user you may be invited to join a session as a Judge. Alternatively you may sign up for a Free Trial. In either case your a treated as an un-affiliated user in the sense that you are not registered with a Licence Centre.
A Licence Centre code is required to register users against a Licence Code. This code is provided when a new Licence Centre is set up. Users apply the code here to register new accounts or upgrade existing ones. Currently all registered users are provisioned with the Session Administrator roles and privileges.
Session Administrators can be further upgraded to Licence Centre Administrators. A support request is currently required to facilitate this.

Learning more
The interaction of tenancy, accounts, roles and privileges creates dependencies and complexity. It is important for Administrators (Licence Centre and Session) in particular to have a good level of understanding.
Our comprehensive help centre is designed to help all users to understand how the RM Compare system works. We deliberately publish our content publicly to allow users to make the best use of modern technology such as generative AI to get deeper, personalised insights.
