Festival of Education 2022

Festival and education

Welcome back to the Festival of Education

After last year's online event it is so good to see a 'proper' Festival of Education up and running later this week at Wellington College. With over 3000 attendees and umpteen brilliant speakers and events it's hard to think of a better place to properly take the pulse of the profession right now.

There are a couple of sessions focusing on research projects using Adaptive Comparative Judgement (ACJ) through RM Compare which I am particularly looking forward to attending (obviously!). Each one is trying to tackle really important challenges and I am looking forward to hearing about some of the early findings.

Comparative judgment as facilitator for peer assessment (Thursday 7th July, 12.15 - 13.15)

Dr. Eva Hartell (Head of Education Research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology) will be talking about her work, including how ACJ can be applied to various settings, for example as a facilitator for peer assessment for both students and teachers with examples primarily undertaken in STEM ed. The problem of assessing oracy: is comparative judgement the answer? (Thursday 7th July, 14.15 - 15.00)

Hear from Amanda Moorghen (Head of Research and Impact) about the findings of ‘Comparing Talk’, a Voice 21 and Rethinking Assessment research project working with schools across the UK to develop a new approach to oracy assessment. Details HERE.
