An ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW sandbox to use right now
➿RM Compare |📳 NOW is an on‑demand comparative judgement experience that lets you assess an Item against an established standard. The standard is called a ruler and is sourced from a rank created in 💻RM Compare | Studio.
📳Live NOW uses the same Adaptive Comparative Judgement engine as 📳RM Compare | Live, but is delivered as a standalone, no‑login experience designed for short Assessment‑as‑Learning sessions. Capture or upload an Item, estimate its quality, complete a few quick comparisons, and immediately see how closely your judgement aligns with the standard.
Getting started
The easiest way to get started is to use the QR code or follow the link you have been given. The intuitive interface will guide you through three steps:
- Estimate – you give your initial estimate of the quality of your Item.
- Compare – you compare your Item with Items drawn from the standard.
- Reveal – you see where your Item lands on the standard and how accurate your estimate was.
Your results are available after a small number of judgements, typically around five.
ALPHA?
➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW is currently in ALPHA. It is stable and has been thoroughly tested, but we are still learning from how people use it in different contexts. If you have issues or comments to share, please get in touch with the RM Compare team.
We cannot yet confirm when 📳Live NOW will move from ALPHA into BETA. Updates will be shared on the RM Compare website and blog.

- No. ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW does not require registration, login or authentication.
- How much does it cost?
- ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW is currently free to use during ALPHA.
- Can I use my existing RM Compare account?
- Not at the moment. ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW currently runs as a standalone experience and does not connect to existing RM Compare accounts.
- What is a standard?
- A standard is a set of items whose relative quality or value has already been established. In ➿RM Compare, this may also be referred to internally as a “ruler”.
- Where do standards come from?
- Standards are created from ranked sets of items prepared in 💻RM Compare | Studio.
- What standards are available?
- At launch there are only a small number of standards available, but we expect this to grow over time.
- Can I use my own standards?
- Not in ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW at present. Support for using your own standards sits more naturally within ➿RM Compare | 📳Live and the wider RM Compare ecosystem.
- Can I use ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW on mobile?
- Yes. ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW works on mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
- How quickly do I get results?
- Results are available after just 5 judgements.
- How accurate are the results?
- After 5 judgements, your item should usually land within approximately one place of its most likely position on the standard, although this depends on the size and structure of the standard being used
- What kinds of items can I assess?
- ➿RM Compare | 📳Live NOW currently works with items you can capture or upload from the photos area of your device.
